Over the past couple of years, gardens have come to be considered tourist attractions in their own right. The initiative "Natur im Garten" (supporting individual gardeners with factual know-how on "green gardening") and a countless number of tourism businesses in Lower Austria have picked up this trend for many years already. Like this, the province can claim a certain expert status in the fields of garden tourism and individual garden care.

During recent years, Lower Austria has all the more developed into a province known for its gardens. To the attractive, traditional abbey and palace gardens, new experimental garden projects have been added. Out of these, innovative show gardens as well as more and more private gardens have followed the call for organic cultivation.

From this pool of gardens, 28 have joined forces to promote themselves as the "GARDENS OF LOWER AUSTRIA". They represent the region's garden competence via a whole number of activities and individual offers. It is their declared goal to further stimulate the variety of gardens for tourism and to allow an increasing number of visitors access to the beauty of the gardens of Lower Austria.
